Sometimes, it’s hard being out in the suburbs, style-wise. Many boutiques feel like they are more geared to teenagers, while others feel too staid. What’s a woman to do? Gramercy owner Khaki Young understands that living out in the suburbs does not mean losing your edge, and has brought chic urban style to Spread Eagle Village in Wayne.

When MavenMag last checked in with Khaki, she was running her own wedding consultancy. While she still plans several weddings a year, she saw a need in the suburbs for a boutique that offered designers who were not found in King of Prussia or even in Center City, and as a result, recently opened Gramercy.
What makes any boutique great is its point of view, and this boutique has it in spades. Khaki knows her customers are women in-the-know about style who want to look fresh and current without looking like they are trying too hard. Spring at Gramercy was awash in gorgeous color. I fell madly in love with a tie-died dress with jeweled accent from new New York designer
Julie Haus, which could dress down for day with flat sandals but also look equally effortlessly gorgeous at night with heels and big earrings.
The boutique is the only store to locally carry French line
Calypso, for many years a cult favorite in New York known for its effortlessly chic and colorful wrap dresses, tops and sweaters. For a twist on the usual suburban preppy theme, look no further than swimwear and party dresses from
Shoshanna. Preppy fabrics were re-imagined into flirty dresses, and boldly print swimwear gave flattering a new sexy image.
Khaki takes frequent trips to New York as part of her commitment to bringing new and exciting designers to the boutique. She rotates designers regularly to ensure that nothing in the store will easily be found elsewhere locally, and is excited to be bringing in
Brian Reyes and
Tracy Feith to the boutique for Fall.
Aside from a great selection of clothing, Gramercy has sourced very special accessories, from playful bangles in an array of candy colors to leather bags by Khaki favorite
Kage only found at Gramercy within Pennsylvania.
Need a fitter? One is conveniently located next door and is Khaki-recommended for a perfect fit, so there’s no need to sacrifice department store amenities for original boutique style. With Khaki Young as your eyes and ears for the newest and latest, there’s no excuse for not looking au courant. The suburbs have never looked so fresh and exciting.
